vhawk, Our birds reproduction does not work quite like that. Yes, eggs are fertile when the emerge but there are no signs for several days. If all you found was blood and no egg fragments then she probably hurt her self internally. Keep her up and try to limit her activity by keeping her in a smaller cage until you are certain she is alright. She could have damage to her ovary or internal organs. She will recover or possibly not, at this point it's a waiting game. Best of luck, and I hope she will be alright.

vhawk, I'm as much of a newbie as anyone. I also can be wrong but not because I did not try. :)Question everything members say. I don't think for even a single heart beat that anyone would intentionally tell you something wrong but they are your birds and the final decision is yours. Never do anything just because I or anyone says to. :)Good luck with your hen.

If she rolled down and there was some blood around pooh it could just be abit of internal bleeding thats leakd out.
Yes they may have been an egg there but there wouldnt have been any blood cells or baby in the egg as the egg is just the york and egg white up untill it has been laid then sat upon and kept nice and warm to incubate the egg.
Once this process starts you will after a few days see small blood vessals if you hold the egg up to a light and look througth it.
So my guess would be she bumpt on her back side and had a small internal bleeding.
Hope she is now fine?
