wannaroll, Good start. If that is a recent picture, that baby will need more nesting material. Something to grab onto, to prevent spraddle legs. Make a bean bag out of an old sock and filled with beans to help support the squab. It should take up one half of the nest bowl and be at the same height as the youngster.

Good luck. Word of caution though if you have raccoons in your area it won't be long till they are trying to pull your birds out the bottom of your pen. If I was you I would build a solid bottom drawer to fit under your wire floor to keep varmints out or some people that don't like drawers will take lattice and attach it to the legs of their kit boxes to keep varmints out. They will eventually find your birds. I like 1" x 2" wire bottom floors with poop drawers underneath on my kit boxes. I get clean birds and no varmints that way. I've never heard of the bean bag thing which would work, I would probably just get a handful of more material - straw, pine needles whatever and give that baby plenty of material to hold onto.

I keep a constant supply of pine needles available for the parents. The baby has kept his legs strait underneath him, but I will watch to make sure. I don't want a bowlegged baby. I put wire around the bottom of the cage to keep racoons out, although I have 2 huge dogs that keep everything out of the yard. The reason I used the 2"x4" wire is that I have a few hundred feet of it.
