I plan on building an 8x8x7 (LWH) slant roof breeding loft, does anyone know how many rollers that will house and or do you have any suggestions?

Sound Rollers,
How are you planning to breed, open loft or individuals? If you are doing individuals, the size you mention should allow you to have two break up pens also.

I have my loft divided into three areas that is that size and I have 14 pair..two side lofts have 4 pair each... then in the back I have 6 pair...Have been breeding this way for years....Nobody in their right mind needs that many breeders.. Keep thing clean and plenty of air flow and the birds will do well.

You can get something like 32 breeding compartments on two 8' walls.JDA

Sound Rollers.... it really depends on "how big" your breeding compartments are going top be??? I like to make mine plenty big enough with a shelf for the second nestbowl. I make mine 36""x24"x 24""(LWH)
Do alittle math.... Hope this helps. Oh,by the way don't put in any "extra" perches. Only use the perches at the nestbox openings.. My present loft is 21'x18', with a slanted roof going from 10'down to 6'high.

My first loft was that size, it is now my foster loft. I can house about 8 pr comfortably. My second loft is 12 x 8 x 7 (LWH), the main part is still 8 x 8 but the other 4' is indy breeding cages. With the two 8 x 8 lofts, I can seperate the hens and cocks for the winter and with the indys I can mate certain prs together whenever I want.

I have slowly added as I go and it was fine. Just do what you can afford and your yard will accomadate. You will figure it out as you go. Good luck and keep in touch!
