----------For the past 3 weeks I have been tormented by racing pigeons joining my young bird kits and flying the whole time with them, will they make my birds fly too fast and flat? I have tried to catch them but no luck!
I am to the point of ELIMINATING them, they just sit on the wires and wait for them to be released!

It will not hurt them in any way. I had the same issue last year and there were no negative effects on the young birds.

Pat, There is an old adage, "Be care full what you wish for!" As disrupting as the racers are, the B.O.P. are worse! At least the racers won't kill your birds. Try useing your kit box like a big box trap. Leave the main door open and put a few young birds that are settled in for the racers to see eating, and if they go in close the door on them. I hope it works!

Pat they won't go in the kit box they know better.do the old trick put a square box on the ground with the stick holding it up and fish wire tie to the stick, put alot of corn in middle of box and go hide .catch yourself some birds..good luck..

HI PAT.
I myself have been having problems with racing pigeons.
When I let the Y/B kit out the racers are spooking them by flying straight througth the middle of the kit.
The rollers are breaking away from each other as the racers come at them that fast I believe they think they are under attack.
Try to work out the flying times of the racers and avoid them.
That is what I have done but still get caught out some days.
Hope you get your problems solved.

I use to love catching stray racers as a lad with the bin lid and stick/fishing line.
Also you can get some (THICK) 20pound plus breaking strain fishing line(anything under 20 will slice the leg)
Make a nooce with a sliding knot.
Put the feed in the middle of the nooce and once the bird entres the middle of the nooce pull as fast as you can and it will catch the bird by its legs.
Good look and get hidden.LOL.
last option is that they belong (OR DID BELONG) to somone and if these birds are causing newcence to you and your property then you have no choice but to remove them.
And if getting a small.... moderated... is the only (LAST) option you have then use it.
Bcause in a short time these birds will bcome even more of a problem then there already are.
And you also dont no what they could be carrying.
If they wont trap then there is a good chace somone els is feeding these birds and there just using youre place as a resting place.
If this is the case then none of the above options will work appart from the rifle.
good look.
yours harrison.
