Have you ever asked yourself the question ' do the Birds own me or do I own the birds".
Just think about all the time you spend with the Birds away from your Family( especially young Children) School, Work, Gym , Hunting, Fishing, Vacation, ETC.
I thought about this and it helped me make my decision to DOWN SIZE my loft.
what I am trying to say is Never put the Birds before YOURSELF or your FAMILY .
Dont get me wrong I like my Birds but there has to be Balance in your life otherwise another part of your life will get NEGLECTED.
Good luck to everyone in the Fall Fly !!!

I was talking about this today with George as we made a road trip to help out a roller friend in need. With my son now in Hawaii for college I talked about how before the rollers I used to fish alot and also how the time flew by and my son and I really didn't fish the last few years. Instead we went to roller shows and flys and we did spend lots of time together. Besides my son he is my best friend and roller buddy. I started in rollers as a general hobby and now it has became a way of life for me. Once you fall in love with rollers then that is what happens. Creating a balance in all your other commitments and rollers can be tough. Going on vacation you have to have a great guy like George who will take care of your birds. You have to have a great wife and soulmate like my wife Lynette that understands your love for the birds and therefore is willing to trade some of her time with you with the birds. So in a sense the birds do own me because they have a strong influence on my routine in life everyday. But it is a ownership of love and I have learned to create the right balance that keeps my relationship with my wife, son, family, friends, and my work strong. Not an easy accomplishment and I have to daily remind myself how important it is to maintain this balance or being owned by my rollers doesn't work. Enough typing, I have to go out and check my birds water and feed before it gets dark as I am getting up at 3AM to go to Perris Roller Club fly. These things are what make being owned by my rollers worth it! Enjoy your next fly! Don M. LVRC

I speak to this old man calld ROY and he had racer pigeons for 40 years and more. He had a bad time with his wife last year GOD BLESS HER and only a few months ago he said Harrison DONT let the birds get in the way of your marrige and relashonship with your children. He said that he wishis that he had spent more time with his wife then he did as it was always about the pigeons first. He has rollers now and they keep him going as times get hard for him been alone. He somtimes needs a little kick up the backside as he gets down in his self and drifts awa from his birds. So yes its a great post you have put up GOERGE and its deffo somthing to think about. I say yes we may pay alot of attenshion to our birds and spend forever with them. But atlast the wife knows I am only at the bottom of the yard and only with the featherd birds and not the female kind. Harrison H.K.R ROLLER LOFT HULL UK
