Looking for advice, should I or should I not use pressure treated wood in the construction of my loft? Here in Connecticut we have termites and carpenter ants.

Sound Rollers You should use PT anyway. Later you will regret not using it. Sooner or later it will rot if you dont. So why not do it right the first time. Save yourself a headache later down the road. You get plenty of snow there as do i here in maine. LOL, I use PT on any base.

I guess I should have posted my main concern, are the chemicals in the treated lumber harmful to rollers? ---------- John

John No it wont bother or harm your birds at all.Use it for the base.Your studs dont need to be PT. If you have the extra cash buy real plywood for the floor. Alot of peole make the mistake and buy OSB. I know ive done it in the past. It just dont last. And you will end up replacing it. ITS A PAIN LOL Good luck

I've also had this concern in the past. I called several plywood manufacturers and was advised that as long as the birds aren't chewing on it like parrots, the treated lumber is safe. I also use it for bases and flooring but due to cost those are the only areas where I use it. I would recommend it for fly pens. Tracey
