Personally, if I bred the three kits a year I would expect to end the season with roughly 1 and 1/2 kits. Alot is going to depend on the BOP's in your area, the quality of birds you have and how hard you cull. For my situation, three kits is perfect so I really only need to breed 2 kits a year. As far as the breeders, no you don't need alot of breeders. Are you planning on using fosters? Tracey

Tou,
If I had 3 I would keep one holover kit and raise enough to have 2 youngbird kits when I got my quality where I wanted it I may keep 2 holvovers and one young bird kit. Since I'm borderline obsessed right now I have 4 and thinking about building more. Some guys have over 10, just depends on how much time you have and how obsessed you are.

Tou, I like to work along the same lines as Pumpkin Man. Keep (1) A team and usually (1/2) of a B team. Hopefully, the following year some of those B team birds replace birds in the A team that make it to the stock pen, or some birds are going to have to go. With my work and lifestyle, more than 3 kits would be too many for me. Tracey

It really isn't a matter of how many kits we say is good to work with bacause what it boils down to is how many kits you have time to work. The birds will not be able to meet their full potential if they are not given the proper flying times. Too many birds is as bad or worse than too few. Well for me I have 3 kit boxes and it not enough. The reason why i wish i would have more is that 2 kit box would be for youngsters then I would have another for birds that r starting to roll then i would have 2 more kit boxes to seperate the mature hold over kit by sexes. clayton
