how and when do you guys use dummy eggs?

tou right now i'm using dummy eggs under my breeders because i haven't built me a building for the cocks and the hens i need to really bad and in the pass when i had the room for the cocks and hens i used dummy eggs to get the hens to lay or to brake the pair up when they young in the nest.............donny james

Tou when a pair lays one egg I take it out and put a dummy egg under the hen until she lays the second egg then I take out the dummy egg and replace the first egg I took out .this way the eggs hatch at the same time and both babys are the same size... ---------- Ralph. Depends on what you want to do. Ralph has a good point. I use mine to time my fosters. I let both pairs lay. As soon as I can switch the eggs I do. If I need to keep the main pair from laying again in 10 days they sit on dummy eggs till My foster pair is 10 days from laying. At the end of the year I also put my pairs on dummy eggs till I wean the last young birds. Keeps the cock occuipied instead of chasing hens.
