Me personally I flag my birds when they start that low flying and I get them up and if I want to break them from circling when real low I usually toss a bird up in front of them and make them turn the other direction.but becareful with the flag its a tool and if not use propertly can back fire on you..
Now what you can do is rest them for a week feed them up and they should be flying higher .

Tou...

Answer these questions and then we can answer your main question.

How old are the birds?

How long do they fly before they come down low?

How many birds are you flying?

How much are you feeding them?

What are you feeding them?

What time of day are you flying and how hot is it.

ok, thnxs PR. ill try resting them for a week and feeding them a bit more.

birds are 1 month to 6 months. they fly 20-30 min before coming down low. im flying around 15 birds. im feeding them 1 tablesppon per bird but usually 2-3 tablespoons more depending on how they fly. im feeding them straight wheat, usually mixed feed every saturday or so. on mon-fri i fly them at 6 pm but if i can then i fly them at 6 pm. on weekend i fly them at 6-7 pm and at 6-7 pm. not sure about the temperature but it is probably in th 90's???

Good questions Paul...
Tou one month you mean 2 ...1 is 4 weeks .tooooo young, they fly 20 to 30 mins that is good considering you are only giving them wheat young birds 6 month and under need a good protein mix everyday help developing and repairing muscles and tissue cells..if you was to fly them in the early morning before sunrise when the weather is cool you will something different.the 90's and flying late in the evening and feeding mix only every Sat sums it up why they want to come down and let me tell you they flying 20 to 30 mins under those conditions you should be happy with the results.rest them for a week give them a good mix and if you can fly them in the morning when its cool watch what happens.. good luck..
p.s. some ppl have good result with what you giving them but different climate plays a role too.

Ralph answered most of the questions....

Mix Mix Mix....I dont understand why everyone feeds younbirds straght wheat....thats like feeding your own kids bread and water..LOL....Mix is what the young birds need...they are still growing...My birds get mix up intil the come into the roll and I mean ROLL..no flip..then they get wheat and milo.. but only on a rest day.....

Tou...I would be flying these birds every day and put them on a nice mix....EVERYDAY....until they come into the roll...the start seperating birds based on performance...not age.....and give them a little more.....My young birds get 2 cups of mix per 20 birds..that is tbs per bird...they get a little more with the moult....

And I would not even open the door if it is 90 outside...that is hot....I would much rather have the birds get a nice fly then a crappy fly.....so fly them in the early morning on the hot days...I have to be at work by 8..so I get up at 630am and open the door....anyway....you have young birds in that team...so treat them like young birds..give them mix.

Also remember that wheat is a toll we use to get our birds into shape....now you have no need to get the youngbirds into shape.....I will put it to you this way...my old birds get mix once every 3 days and sometiems once every other day.....and then wheat and milo for maintanance flying....as far as wheat...my birds never get straight wheat continuous unless they are prepped for comp.

tou,
Paul and Ralph have brought up some good points, and I would like to add one other thing. Different kits develope different flying patterns based on the weather, their stage of development, their feed, time of day, etc. It can be very difficult to change this pattern without breaking up the kit and flying them three at a time. So don't expect miracles when you start making changes. I am flying nine kits and no two fly exactly the same, except for the holdover comp teams.

Cliff, 9 teams!! you da man! how do you do it, alternate days, with half the kits flying the a.m. and the other half the p.m. or something like that? i'm really curious. i'd quit my job if i could afford to do that, of course the wife would leave me. lol

Tou,
You have been given some good advice, but remember that they are young birds and whatever they are doing now, it wont be long before they are doing something else to annoy you,
Pete,

P.S My birds are still with their parents at one month old,lol
