I would like to know if any one know when a bird gets weak.It has feed in its crop and gets thin and dies.I have given it 4 in 1 and still dies,what can help them.One person told me it is young bird sickness and nothing helps.

Like any baby from all speciies to include humans there is kind of a "failure to thrieve" thing that goes on. I loose one to three a year out of 60 or 70 for reasons unknown.

Just make sure your birds are kept in a dry invironment; the food and water are clean; some vitamins and minerals now and then; and thier living quarters are reasonably free of dust and other polutions and you should be good.

i had several birds that died from that;
you have to use a seringe and inject water into its crop if you want it to live.
inject as much water as the bird can take until all the feed in the crop is gone and the bird will be ok again.

i think its call a sour crop or somthing.

holding corn in the crop is a symptom of young bird syndrome , but also could just be sour crop . do not feed a bird holding corn untill you get the crop empty, the food inside the crop is fermenting (going bad)use charcole tablets one am and one pm for a couple of days if its not gone too far this will fix sour crop ,and add a bit of cider vinegar to its drinking water , remember dont feed again untill the crop is empty then feed light seeds for a few days no heavy corn for a while ,use cider vinegar once a week for all your birds 5ml spoon to 1.5 ltrs as a guide , good luck

ps if it is yb syndrome you can treat with nyfuramycin

It's probably young bird syndrome,it will take out inhierently weak babies,and maybe a breeder or two.I cull them,and administer a 4 n 1 to keep secondary infections a bay.I also keep an eye on the birds that were around the sick baby.Disinfect,but it will have to run it's course,there's no real cure for it.....Aloha,Todd
