An experienced competition flier saying to a lesser experianced flier after handling some of his kit birds: "How do they feel?" asked the less experienced. "They feel good if you are wanting to eat them" answered the more experienced flier. ---------- Just My Take On Things

A newbie (me) showing an older guy my birds in a show, many years ago. He said to me "they are the wrong type for rolling, the heads are too big for one thing". He showed me some of his birds in the cages and I said that they were very down faced, and snipey. "It doesn't matter what they look like, it's what they do in the air that matters" he retorted. I walked away with a puzzled look on my face. Pete.

A club member says to me; all ofhis y birds have been checked by 2 other individuals who are master breeders. He brings out this dun cock and says is one of his best breeders. Prior to this, he was showing me how his keals are better than my birds and that my birds are off balance. So , I checked his bird out and his keal is flat, and I mentioned to him that it was just flat/straight. He grabbed his bird and had this look on his face, like he needed a "twix time". After about 30 seconds or so, trying to figure what to say to me. he replies with; Yeah I guess he is a bit on the flate side.

Nick, I think it all boils down to the character of the person. I had a master breeder talk to me in terms that I could understand and tell me there were no dumb questions when I first got started. I still pick up the phone and call him and he always has time to talk. I also had a person that thought he new everything about a roller pigeon try to fill my head with all kind of BS, but he could not answer one simple question. Have you ever won a fly ? It's all in how the person is. ---------- Ty Vapor Trail Lofts
