minature Guillotine...the better do good or OFF WITH THERE HEADS!!! LOL...
Fly time..everyday...max fly time 30-45 minutes...base your feed amount on fly time only...
Straight wheat....for about 2 weeks out..and fly...feed mix or a rest day if needed.
Three days before the fly...lock down....all the mix they can eat the last day of fly training....wheat/milo the 1st and 2nd rest day....open the door and pray!!
watch the birds every fly day...remove birds that cant hang...you will find that when the birds are pushed hard...and put in good shape...some cant hang...PULL THEM!!...
Team is Set the last week out...only remove...dont add birds unless you are at 15...
Water...In this order...Worm, Epsom salt, Meds, Pro-Bios, Red Cell, Pro-vital, ACV, Gatorade...then water the last two rest days.....this is the order...time on each supplement and how much is up to you and your birds...experiment....to long on red cell may jack them...to many days of Epsom salt....etc etc....find what works for you....

Read up on yo-yo feeding. It pretty well gives you an idea on how to prepare for competition. One thing I would recommend is to practice the rationing and type of feed or mix of feed on your birds when they are in between compititions to see how your family reacts to them. I will set a fly date on my own and then try to put them on a training and feed schedule that I feel will get the best out of them. When the day comes fly them and see how they perform. You need to write your scheduling items down to include what you feed and how much you feed each day leading them to scheduled fly day. A ten day cycle should be adequate. Plan each day.
If they did not fly to your liking keep tweeking it until they are how you want them.
Read about other succesful fliers and see how they prep. Visit other successful lofts and ask them how they prep. Apply thier techniques and see how it works for you.
Set those practice competition dates and work your plan toward those dates and plot your results.
There is no one way that works for everyone. You got to find out what way works for you and your birds.
There are no magic pills.
When I have another breeder coming to my home I will even use that as a competition date; especially if he has given me a heads up a week or two about the visit.
It is fun; but it is also work. ---------- Just My Take On Things

Nick, you explained that really well. how about a little detail in what you feed starting 10 days out from competition as a starting point for us newbies? ---------- Steve in Blue Point, NY

Steve, your asking someone that has only been competing for three years and have yet to do much(LOL)
I have found that when you make a change in feed it will take about 4 days for that change to start showing an effect. ---------- Just My Take On Things

Yep...good old gatorade...my birds like the green better then the red or blue..LOL...yes I give it to them...about 4 days out for just one day....and it seems to help with the combination of the other things....I dont know if it is the sugars or the electrolytes or what have you...but I can tell the difference in the birds...but I only give it for one day only....
