Can anyone describe the vocalization of a Coopers Hawk? I am believing it to be on the order of a series of bop's and pop's, kinda. ---------- Just My Take On Things

A Red Shoulder's call is a quick series of calls that sound like a shortened version of a Redtail's call. ---------- Just My Take On Things

Nick, I ahve heard them call when stationary, as in sitting in a tree. It is a series of loud chirps. That's the best I can describe it. ---------- Ron Borderline lofts

Jim, You got too many good things going on in your area. The nearby lake gives them everything they need to stay and then they go dining and squab is on the minue. They love that squab(LOL). ---------- Just My Take On Things

Nick We should fly the nbrc fly just right after the W/C. I dought i fly next year if its at this time. Actually i may just go back to being a backyard flier. I'm going to try and get a state club going and that will be enough. We will fly our state fly only when there not in the molt and when the skys are safe. It is absoloutley rediculas to be trying to fly good rollers at this time of year.

Hey W379, that is an awesome website. It's good to know what you're up against. This site gives you all the info you need. Especially the part where it says they all eat birds for dinner. LOL!
Everybody should earmark this site. Thanks! ---------- Dave - Hesperia, CA.

Good post Jim. This is my last fall fly. My 22 bird kit is down to 16. Have a couple of coopers moved in on me and are hitting me every afternoon. Am scheduled to fly at 3:30 PM next Monday. Unless something drastic happens I will withdraw. Ron Harrison is having the same problem. I have already decided that I am out for next year until they do a better job of scheduling. ---------- Keep em Spinning Joe

Nick: The ones near me ( coopers ) make a sound like: " kleeg, kleeg, kleeg." Then you will hear a sound from me like: " $#*@#"

Jim, Joe, Mark - I am listening and I too experience the BOP. I am lucky in the fact that I don't have to fly at the same part of the day, everyday. I have lost just two so far this year. I lost three last year and the year before I lost about 30 (thirty). ---------- Just My Take On Things

Nick I had 24 hens in my a team. I'm down to 10 now. Iive added some 09 birds there not panning out. My cock kit i had 21 cocks and i'm down to 10 there also. I guess i live under a major flyway. There are all kinds of birds heading south. and along with the lake across the road its just not good. Nick how many people do you have in your state club? We have 5 that will join so far. I'm not done calling though.

Jim,
Maybe we should look at flying our prelims right after flying the WC prelims. If that is what we have to do to avoid this kind of trouble with the hawks then we will try to put something together. I have been talking with other members just to get thier thoughts on it. ---------- Just My Take On Things

Nick, Moving the prelim is only a partial solution. The NBRC has got to move the Fly to a better time or the regional qualifiers still have to fly moulting birds during the major BOP migration in order to have a decent kit to fly in the finals. I think I am done with it. ---------- Keep em Spinning Joe
