Wednesday when tring to get 11 birds together for the fly coming up on Saturday the birds flew a little late as they were landing on the power lines as they allways do they were hit by owl.About the size of a small plane. LOL The owl came out of nowhere. Will after I change my pants. I heard something in the tree next store to me I saw a white bird falling from it with the owl after it. From what i saw the bird got away. Will anyhow at about 9pm the birds landed and most of them traped with 4 still on the line with only 2 there this mornimg.I saw the owl get three birds altogether.I only lost one bird to the Hawk this year so far and three to the owl. But the funny thing was that all the birds that the owl got were all white color birds. ---------- until next time. THANKS, WALTER PORCH

Tuff break, Walter. The owl is usually our friend in reducing the number of Coopers, but if our birds are out after the sun sets, they are fair game. I usually only have that problem with a young bird or two every year that doesn't learn to trap in. I have lots of owls, but few Coopers. I'll take the owls! Cliff

It appears to be that your birds are fed very well for not trapping right away. Setting on the wire for long indicating that you need to cut their feed quite a bit until they drop and trap on a dime. Your issue, then and only then will be solved with the owl.

Jay NO I don't think its the feed. They were in a over fly and coming in when they were attacked by the owl. He got one before the feet hit the wire and another the same way.The bird do trap in about a minute after they land.It was there and gone without missing a beat.In the last 18 months since I got back into birds that the first time that any bird sat out over night.
---------- until next time. THANKS, WALTER PORCH

White is the easiest for the owl to see in the dark. Our neighbor lost 2 white and light grey kittens to the owl.
