==ASSEMBLING TEAM OF PERFORMING ROLLERS==
Once you have assembled a team (the kit), the goal should should be to achieve the best possible performance from each individual.
NOTE: It's very important to have balance in the team.
1) Too many frequent rollers will lead to hyper-activity but with no superior team performance.
2) Exceptionally high quality rollers (fast deep spinners) may be somewhat infrequent; a few of these in the team will enhance the overall spectacle, but too many will lead to seldomness in performance.
There are several ‘types’ of performers and knowing how to mix good rollers into a team can be done successfully if done with patience & caution.
Types:
The 5 main types come in a variety of depths and frequency
a) Super Fast Tight Rollers (High-Velocity) b) Fast Tight (Good Velocity) c) Fast and Very Fast Wingy d) Fast Graceful e) Slower Graceful
SFTR: "Super Fast Tight Rollers" are usually found in more short rollers 10ft-25ft... than in the deeper ones. Keep in mind that the deeper rollers (40ft or more) are usually less frequent in the air.
....however
It has been said (not by me) that the deep and frequent rollers can often be useless for competitive action as they can exhaust themselves too quickly and lose the kit. After visiting several flyers lofts.... I now firmly believe that there can be exceptions to this rule.

Freqent rollers with control will/can be stupendous. If they become hyperactive to the point where it destroys team performance they are probably not just frequent but possibly over cooked/unstable, but it is a fine line, and these type of teams need tight management to get them working well together. Likewise the fast deep high quality rollers actually benefit from a little of the stable/seldom ingredient in their makeup, so that they can manage to reform into a kit between breaks. The deep frequent birds tend to just waterfall all the time, and shorter seldom teams are just boring. Both types can be improved by the way the fancier manages them. It's all about balance, but I don't describe to The old adage of balancing a team with a few seldom, a few deep. a few frequent etc. The more uniform the individual members of the team are, the better the team, and the easier they are to manage in my opinion. Pete.

I agree with pete, but the problem is that in the first three to five years or so of one's breeding program, it is hard to produce uniform birds in any kinds of numbers....while one is sorting out the produceers in the stock loft. So, initially, there tends to be an assortment of different types of performers in the comp team, which negatively affects their ability to score with consistancy. Cliff
