John, You have some skills! As JDA suggests, I would look at adding some ventiation. Is this loft just for breeders and are you breeding open or individual? Tracey

I think it looks more like a potting shed then a roller loft. So here's a question; how do I vent the loft without exposing the birds to drafts in the winter. I need help with this. I would like everyone to pick it apart and give me the pros and cons, don't hold anything back. There's nothing wrong with constructive criticism.

Joe the back wall is sheet plywood 7'h x 8'w that house in the background is about 10 feet away, the best sun is morning sun on the left side wall if your facing the front.

You won't get ventilation without having drafts.I don't know where this BS comes from about not subjecting pigeons to drafts. In the wild there are drafts every way you turn and pigeons survive just fine so I wouldn't worry about drafts.Vents at the bottom at floor level on one side and vents on the other side of the loft at the top of the walls will work well. Paint 'er up good too,2 coats, inside and out or before you know it your loft will be covered in mildew like the house behind in the photo.

Sound Rollers.....when you put in the vents, your going to put the vented shields over the holes(ones with the slanted slots). They are not going to be so big that the wind will blow thru your loft. 1 vent at floor level and 1 on the oppsite side_at the top. This design will let the air flow. It is not designed to cause drafts. My loft is 18'x21' and I only have 1 floor vent in the middle of the west wall and on the opposite wall, I have 2 sofit vents at the top. I don't get any drafts what so ever. Just "good" ventilation.... Good luck

Joe, Here's the plan, I'm going to fly my prospective breeding stock out of this loft and as soon as I have selected a foundation, I will fly out of kit boxes.

Sound With a little experimentaion the windows will provide sufficient ventilation. Cut a couple of vents in the floor too. Get the real vents with adjustable dampers for winter time. You might consider using larger mesh screens so the fluff can get out. Been there done that. A roof vent on the leeward side of the wind would probably help too. I run a small fan in the ceiling of my loft almost all of the time. Nice job yits

Don't know where you're at with construction, but I would recommend the following in addition to what's been offered so far:
1) Gutters - especially with the sloap going towards your door 2) I would recommend putting some 2 1/2 inch wood screws in between every nail you have in the siding and the plywood backing. It looks pretty, but that siding warps like mad! I know from experience LOL! 3) I don't know what your floor is made of, but if intend or already have holes in your floor, I would recommend putting up some predator protection around the base. 4) Allow some places where you can set up traps or poisons for any future rodent infestations that will be where the birds can't get to it. They'll be coming in for leftover or spilled grain so if you keep that clean, you shouldn't have any problems.
What is your feeding/watering system going to be set up like? I find it a luxury to have a suspended watering box on the outside of your loft with a landing board on the inside. Give the birds just enough room to see the water and poke their heads in for a drink. This will cut down on the amount of scat and dust in your water. The only caution I'd throw is that when it gets hot outside, algae tends to grow in the waterer.
Hope this helps! Eric

Thanks Eric the siding has already shown signs of warping with all the rain here lately. All very good advice.
