Spike Gilmore is on top of my list.
Name some more from your area that are truly great in the hobby, but few people know or talk about them outside of your region or area. ---------- Just My Take On Things

Jim Brown is one... few will know ..he has been around for some time..traveled the West and North Pacific years back. Collecting good stock and bringing it home to work with. Has a true grasp of what a champion spinning roller looks like in the air...but maybe more so in the show pen. bwinward

Well these guys arent unknown, but not known in national/global circles. They are great men, and solid roller flyers. Adam Hill - UT, Garry Barres - MT, Brent Martindale - ID. Each has made significant contribution to their local clubs and organizations. There are probably great unknowns throughout our hobby. Known only to those few who are priviledged to be freinds with them. ---------- Jon

How about Richard Apodaca (CA)? He is often called the Bill Pensom of the desert. He knows genetics and knows a great deal about pigeons.

Don Pinney is another one. Outside of California, especially Northern California, few people have heard of him. A great pigeon man; a roller man through and through. ---------- Just My Take On Things

I have to Agree with Adam Hill. It is always a nice to fly with him and listen to him talk about birds. Guil Rand does an excellant job geting new people started and taking time for new people. Both have excellent birds. Both have helped me be a better pigeon guy.

Don Brantley who lives in the L.A. Area is my pick. He was a member of the DRC (Distinctive Roller Club) in the 90's and he worked wonders with his birds. Just my input. ---------- DJJeffman Spinners

Nick I would have to enlist your name as well as Ferrel and June Bussing what all three of you have done for your region is great. Eldon Cheney is another I know people really don't like his judging and constantly slam dunk him but he truely puts the hobby above all else.

Also I would like to add a guy I have known since I weighed under 150 pounds...lol... Maurilio Hernandez, this guy has help quite a few people in the pigeon game and last but not least Victorio Gutierrez for keeping me in the back yard as a kid. Thank you!

I have always thought that this is a hugh part of the hobby. There are soooo many great roller guys out there that just enjoy them and that's it. In our area here in Mi. there was a man named Bob Deming that had rollers for almost 50 yrs. and started every kid in 6 countys with rollers. But being well know in the sport was not important to him, as that's not why he raised them. We should all do so well, Terry
