Scott was here in Vegas today to judge our 2 qualifiers. We also asked him to judge a couple other kits as a friendly competition or so called State Fly. My birds definitely were flat and disappointing. Only 32 points and never went up. Marlon did OK with about 98 points so he should place well in the finals. I believe he got a 1.5 quality so good spin in the air! Don "Lucky" Lyle had to fly mostly young birds due to losses and only got one 5 bird break so he did get on the board for the finals. George Ruiz's birds wouldn't elevate and ended up DQing. Today all or our birds stayed down low for some reason. Don't know if it was due to falcon attacks or ? Marlon got hit by the falcon about 10 minutes after time was up so he was able to dodge the BOP bullet this time! Nic was also here from Australia and his timing coming worked out perfect as we were all flying. Sorry I didn't even get Nic's last name but great guy! We want to thank Scott for judging and scoring only birds that meet the standard of a Brimingham Roller. We have had Hanns from South Africa here for the WC and now Scott. 2 very similar judges that some call tight. But I don't think neither were tight. I thought they both scored the birds well and the only reason some call them tight is because many of our judges that do our regional flies are too loose. Not trying to start a debate and only my opinion, but these 2 big flys are for the world and national championship and only true Birmingham Rollers should be scored. Thanks Scott for also sharing your insight and knowledge with some of our newer club members. We appreciate that very much. Everyone enjoy your next fly! Don M. LVRC

Hi Tim. We in Vegas fly this time of year as it was our NBRC Champion Fly Finals date for us. A few of us that didn't qualify also had Scott judge our kit. I was hoping to save face a little and show him how good my birds were but my birds certianly didn't help me accomplish that on that day! Oh well,I'll take the blame and still had fun! Up until the last couple of year we could fly into early December with minimal BOP attacks. But not anymore. Instead of clear air April thru November we now only have clear air in the 2 hottest months- July and August! Oh well, not good but not as bad as most of California from what I have seen and heard. We don't suffer from the Cooper Hawks. Just the Perigrine and Praire Falcons, and an ocassional Red Tail Hawk. If you are ever in Vegas look us up. This goes for anyone else who reads this. My cell is (702)348-8200. Enjoy your next fly! Don M. Mac's Roller LVRC
