Congrats to Mark Wilson of Blackwell Oklahoma on winning the 2009 OPRA state fly! The weather was terrible. Cold wet and drizzly but they did good any ways. Salute!!!

To all my fellow flyers and friends in the OPRA. It was an honor to be able to judge and Meet all of you. I cannot express how much it meant to me. There was a lot of great birds but most importantly to me was the fellow ship of your club. I think Ferrel had like 1300 or more miles on his trip meter. To me it didn't seem like that at all. It was just a great Experience for me. One more thing Region 5 is awsome. Jim Bowen

I DQ'd! 2 outbirds the whole fly. I had my birds working hard the couple of weeks leeding up to the fly but they were getting higher every day to the point that they were getting out of site. Tried to compinsate with the feed and screwed them up. Also, had one bird that was my best worker and fastest bird. He had kitting issues but was getting better every fly and when he was kitting, he was my point bird that would get the kit going. He was a big concern and I shouldnt of takin the chance, but I did and he never even went towards the kit on flyday. Never had any of the other birds followed him so I thought I could still do ok with one bird out if he acted up. Well, one of my other birds followed him like a shadow and that was that. Other than that, it down poured the whole fly so they were off their game anyways!

Ferrell's grandson did pretty good,I think he placed third. Ferrell opted not to fly due to a time issue!

Ben Wenkleman I think got second, His birds did well except he had a couple of outbirds for part of the fly and cost him some breaks.

Sal Ortiz was off playing in California until the day before his fly and his birds werent on their game. I think they kicked arse except for a couple out birds cost him too.

Mark Wilson's birds did very well, he won the fly.

Steve Woodriff's (sp) did ok also, I think he placed fourth!

Not sure what the others did! Best I can do as far as a summary!
