I make that decision not based on one incident. Make sure the bird is healthy and if it is I would fly him again when his kit is scheduled to fly. If he does it again I would remove him.

Nick is right....young birds get a little more slack....if it continues to do it...keep demoting it to lesser teams....if that does not help..cull it and move on...concentrate on the birds that dont have issues...sometimes we are bas ackwards...(ass backwards) meaning...we often time spend so much time nursing a problem bird....it should be the other way around...take care of the good birds...but most good birds dont need to be taken care of..

Put it in your A-team, according to some on this list, in another thread, if it rolls down during competition, it can rest on the ground for as long as it wants and go right back up into the kit and keep scoring. Oh, of course that's only if it isn't the second bird to do that.
LOL.

I have a pepper faced cock several months old that used to bump and hit the roof. One day it hit the cement very hard a few feet from the loft and I thought it was curtains.
...however
Miraculously the bird recovered and I clearly realized there's hope for this one. What I did was took the bird off the small seed kit diet and gave it a protein rich breeders diet for several days (not breeding it though). The feed contained a vitamin rich mixture of Red Lentils, Austrian Peas, Green Split Peas, Wheat, Barley, Milo & Safflower.
NOTE: The vitamins were added.
My plan was to strengthen the flight muscles and pep up the brain (regain confidence) in order to put it back with the team to see if it can rip off some 30 footers without crashing.
The plan worked as strategically engineered!
From experience I discovered that if you feed a kit bird up that has rolled down.... and then rest it... there's a window of opportunity that it can rejoin the team after rolling down. As far as rest is concerned, a week or so should be sufficient. The key here is patience and having sound stock that responds to the right stimuli required for satisfactory performance levels.

Rick resting depends on how hurt it was,how much time you see or feel it needs .I give them a few days if I see them still doing it a week ,I given birds a month which gave them time to heal and if real young time to mature .withen all that time fed a rich mix and the bird came back fine..its your call some ppl don't like to waste time on it but I do..good luck..---------- Ralph.
