Not good; that is how you begin to breakdown. Competition should never be slanted in favor of anybody. I guess it will be Ciff's butt that will be one of those that gets oiled and spanked. It does not surprise me that he feels that way and that I understand is why Virginia broke away from N.C. to form thier own region. Just shit like that can do that for most. Of course the ones that were having the playing field slanted for said nothing and did nothing. They may not be buttholes, but they are at least a spincter. ---------- Just My Take On Things

One efficient fair way to run the fly is to putall the flyers names in a hat. A month or so before the fly who ever has their name pulled first will start the fly. Then go to the next closest flyer until everybody has flown. If it is done far enough in advance everybody should have time to set their birds up for a morning, noon, or afternoom fly. It is not rocket science. ---------- They gotta Spin to win.....Jay

THe best way is whatever way each region decides on there own...it is not my place to Judge how Cliff does it or George...or Ramsey...Or Abel..etc etc....so....if his region is not happy with the way it works...they can take care of it by voting...but I cant see how new fliers would want to join if they are at the bottom of the pole...

I have not flown in the WC for several years however when I was it was pretty much run as a dictatorship, meaning whatever the RD wanted to do he did, no one could challenge that it was as he did not was the region elected it to be.
I know as helping assist regions as my own, judging etc... that for the most part the region is set up where the judge comes from what direction he arrives.
If he flies into an airport in the region he will either start out south or north of the airport and end near the airport where he will leave to go back home.
At times fly times are pretty hard to predict unless you are either at one end or the other as if you fall in the middle somewhere you are sure to fly in the afternoon based on geographics merely.
Your only good shot is if you enter 2 kits and can get one kit in one day and another later on during the competition.
So many times where you live can screw you.
My suggestion would be if you are able to run as RD for you area and are willing to put in the time you might have more ability to set up things. However if the majority are not going to vote you in and feel content with the current RD then you will not have much choice but to fly when they tell you too!!
I suppose setting up another region is an option and might work but a very good reason would be needed to do so which in my view would be to only attract and bring in more flyers.
I know that each year in most regions that there are a few that have the greatest ability to win each year, mostly due to their dedication and time put in to their own hobby to breed and select a kit that will on average put them in the tops each and every year.
There are plenty of guys that just can't figure out or either have no desire to do what it takes to get them at the top, except for pure luck!!
You have to make luck for yourself and at times it might be that you volunteer to run things!! or have the ability to select a judge that you know will judge your birds the way you want them judged.
I know this might seem unethical to consider things in this perspective but judges are not the same and people talk.
If you have a kit that is not superior quality but are frequent rollers with adequate quality then you would encourage and try to get in easy judges that might cater to how your birds fly and perform.
I knew some that would always enter 2 kits and these 2 kits would almost be the opposites to each other just to cover the angles or if the judge was easy or hard? I think this is kind of pathetic but it happens I am afraid.
In some regions the best quality birds dont' always win, this is kit competition and some have a difference opinion of what is good and what is great!!!
The judge is major thing if you have the abilty to select this person?
anyway if you want change talk to guys in your region and tell them what you think and if the majority like your ideas you have a great chance to get in as a RD there, that is basicaly your only option.
keep it up.

I have to give many thanks and appreciation to Roy Pena as the AZ World Cup Regional Director. He's done an outstanding job 2 years in a row. Many hours of planning the routes, days and fly times to best accomodate everyone involved, including the Judge. (and has done the same for the NBRC Championship Fly 2 years in a row when that wasn't even his job or responsibility as we fly that 1 with New Mexico) Roy has gone above and beyond his job duties with his time, miles driven and much of his own money spent. We have no complaints with fly schedules here in AZ that I know of and it's a lot of miles to cover in a short time.
