This morning when i was out feeding my birds i took out one of my best cockbird's to show a friend, who was about to stop by, and put him in a show cage on top of my kit box. I went inside for about 15 min to get some coffee and when i came out a coopers hawk had killed him and was literally pulling his body through the wiring. These hawks are ridiculously relentless.

Wow Joe sorry for your loss, yes those BOP are nasty when i use to have quail i can't tell you how many times the hawks use to try to pull the cages apart by holding on with there feet and flap there wings.Sucks that there is not much we can do about it. Dennis

Sorry to hear your story Joe. A similar thing happened with my rollers in the UK. The sparrowhawk grabbed onto the wire mesh front of my loft and tried to get the pigeons. Lucky my family member went outside and it got spooked and flew off when it saw them.

Thats why I be be careful in letting my best rollers out now.

We had the same thing happen with youngsters in a cage on the kitbox for trap training. 1 dead and a 2nd injured right in the cage. They were afraid to come outside after that. Hawk shocked for sure.
