Suddenly, the "A" team doesn't want to come out of their kit box, doesn't want to fly. These are birds that were flying 30 minutes to an hour. What could be causing this? Parasites? A recent hawk problem? I wouldn't think it was feed, because nothing has changed.
Yesterday, they buzzed a tree like they wanted to land there. A hawk came out and went after them, but they went high and escaped. 20 minutes later, they came down, buzzed the tree again and the hawk pursued again, but they succeeded in out-flying him.
Has anyone ever tried letting them trap in and then flushing them out again to make them want to work longer?

Laura,
I know with my birds especially my older birds or birds that have been flying along time....the only time that they dont blow out of the box when I open the door is because they KNOW that there is a hawk around. It has happened to me on more then one occasion where I opened the door and they all just sat there looking at me and I had to damn near beat them with the flag to get them out...and low and behold..as soon as they get up....or even after flying for awhile...here comes MR.BOP...
So....if I open the door and my birds that LOVE to fly just sit there...I close the door and either wait a couple hours and try again....or I dont fly for the day.....they know when there is a hawk around...

My guess would be hawk as well. That happened to me many times and when I forced them to fly sure enough a hawk swooped down from nowhere. Pigeons have excellent hearing.

pigeons may have excelent hearing but vision and their sense of smell is what saves them from BOP. I have one bird, if he doesn't wanna fly sure as Sh_t a cooper will show up every time. I pay attention to him now for sure.

Anytime my birds have an encounter with the hawks I usually give them 2 days rest. It seems to calm them down.

I'm thinking you're all on the right track . . . yesterday morning, I walked to the barn and I have two Aussie pups . . . they flushed a predator out of the bushes, from the ground. A Cooper's hawk was in there, on the ground, and had eaten the head off of my beloved Bantam rooster. He flew up onto two different perches before sitting in a tree, about 8 feet from me, stared at me a moment and then he took off.
