----------what is it?,I read this all the time ,help describe what a bird does to call it wing switching..trying to understand ....

One of the ways to picture a bird wing switching is by the way is rolling. When the bird rolls it has to roll very staight falling down. It cannot change his possition. Also the direction it started to roll it has to end. You might get a bird started from the East and comes out on the North you know it change. The roll has to be very clean in and out.

It's easy to see ones you know what to look for. You can some times see a bird wing switching the whole way down. Doing a 360 degree in the same time rolling.

Rick,
It sorta looks like a glitch or a hiccup during the roll. It is caused by the bird trying to exit the spin, or by lack of synchrony in the wingbeats pumping during the spin. It is considered a flaw in a mature roller, but it is not unusual to see it in young birds who are learning the ropes.

The video shows, pretty clearly, the lack of synchronous wing beats during the roll.....
