I think it is safe to say we do not call our birds by name(use band numbers). But Im sure that some of you have pet names for your best birds. I had an "eagle beak" and a "pinwheel" cock and daughter, those were the special ones. What about you?
Father had a bird when a kid called Tumbly Pisces(Pie-sees)

Yeah, im not into naming my birds. But it just occurred to me that somtimes a nickname just pops into your head that sticks with certain birds. I was just wondering if others did that, if so, what were some names. Although, I have a kit of squeeks that are named after the military phonetic alphabet(alpha, bravo, charlie, delta, echo, foxtrot, Juillet, and kilo) ---------- Flying in someone else's backyard: Portable Kits

Some of my birds are called Gimpy (webbed toes), Crash (he bumped a few times), Geronimo (always jumping out of the nest to belly flop on the loft floor before he even had feathers), 3 Feathers (all black bird with 3 white feathers in 1 wing), Flash (tight and fast little roller for sure)and some go by Color: Light Almond, Dark Tortise, Red Mottle, etc. The rest I just call Guys and Girls.

I have a check badge called spot (dark spot on head) and he has a son that I call barcode. As youngster he had dark markings across his head that looked for all the world like I had stuck a bar code on. Pete/

Most of mine are either "that good bird","dipshit" or "birdy mac bird bird" accompanied by a pointing finger. I dont know where it comes from. It just pops out.
Conversely the best ones are usually simply described. Yeah THAT white bird or the one with the white feathers in his wing, no the other one. Kinda like being at work. I notice the screw ups more than I notice the good ones. ---------- V99 blue sky single beat in cadance performing now earth beckons the winged drawn breath is let quickly forth orchestral movement follows

Haha. Very nice. I am enjoying these. "Dipshit" is probably the best one so far. I know there are more names out there, probably some very creative ones, so dont be shy. ---------- Flying in someone else's backyard: Portable Kits
