----------When u have a pair(A&B)then break up the pair and mate them to another cock and hen, can u put those 4 together in an open loft (same family),will they mate back up together??I split them up and mated them in individuals and i want to put them back to an open loft???

I,ve done it many times,but you can,t be certain of the sires as they may tread their original partner.Glen.

What I can share, is I had two recessive reds that were mated. I pulled the hen and put it on a yellow cock, and removed the red cock. After the pair was on there 3rd set of eggs, THe cock was placed back in the loft were he was visible, and he wanted to get back to her as was she, looking to get to his part of the loft. BUt that wasnt with two pair, had that rec cock been mated, would it have gone differently?

Probably, he would,ve been getting busy with his new hen. Yet, some always go to their original mate,when given the opportunity. Glen.

Is there any harm in trying it? and if they mate back to originals then you know it wont work. Or at least monitor them. I cant think of any other way of knowing other then doing it. But the possibility is there. They are know for being monogamous. So perhaps their first true lover will always be there sole mate. lol .
