Those are originals I got from Mort as young birds....he told me they would be good....I got them in early 03..they were first hatches...I flew them for about a year and they were awesome..so they became my first true foundation pair...according to Mort...they go back to a old cock he got from a guy in Colorado in the mid 80's he picked it from the air..and they both have some Paul Bradford, Some Jac (very little), A Bob Brown Bird..I think he is or was from Canada..and a Higgins bird...but I asked Mort his question today..and of course he is going off memory..LOL The black is the very first hen at the top and the Blue Bar is the same bird in the photo in the middle9white 03 band) of the photos...this is a photo I took the day I pulled them from the air

Paul, that's funny that you mention Paul Bradford because I was thinking that black hen resembled Dave Henderson's and Joe Urbon's birds which also have some Paul Bradford in them. Russ

Paul,
The Mort cock that shoots blanks was he 03?
I have a 04 that is hit or miss every other round or two.
What all did you try giving him?
I know several guys on here have had this problem before and some vitamins work, but most of the time they don't.
Do you think some familys go sterile sooner than others, or could it be the meds: we pump into them before each breeding season?

Man...I tried everything...and nothing worked...fertility pills, vitamins, I tried different mates everything...I even sent him to a buddys house so maybe some new ladies would get him all hot and bothered. Still...nothing. I did have a little sickness about a year and a half ago. I had bought a bird at an auction from a top flier..just to fly it out and see what it had...I quarantined it but it ended up getting sick...one of my top breeders a Red Mottle Cock..who is the father to the red badge gizzly bird...died. Just one day..bam. Then my old Blue Bar cock started getting real lazy..and one day he acted like he was drunk...I medicated like a mofo....then rejuve and then pro vital..a heavy dose...and they were fine....no other problems. But I made my decision to never bring a bird into my loft..unless I quarantine it a little longer....but my birds were heavy into breeding at the time so I think they were stressed and open to a new germ. Anyway....I learned a lesson. I feel it is my fault why he went infertile..

Paul Here is some more pieces of the puzzle. The Colorado bird is known and the "Gas Station Bird" it was Almond. Bob Brown is from England. His family of birds were sent to Canada. Higgins Bird ? That bird would be easy traceable.

Hey Paul if you have your sexes seperated during the winter keep your old cock with several hens. They usually wont pair up but will keep him active. The theory is "use it or lose it." I still breed from a '99 model racing pigeon.
