Clarification.........if the first bird lands or crashes; is that bird considered just an out bird until he returns to the kit. Or, is considered down an out for the duration of the fly and if or when it returns to the kit one point will be subtracted from the count in a break?
If a second bird lands does the clock stop on the fly or does one of the landed birds have ten seconds to right itself and return to the kit?
Is landing or crashing treated equally?
This was talked about before, but in a different light and I was not satisfied. ---------- Just My Take On Things

hay nick, i haven't flown in compitions since the mid '90's i haven't seen the rules since then i don't know if they change the rules if i remember right the 1st bird lands or crashed the has the right to go back to the kit on its own and still be counted and if i remember it right if their are 2 birds out it kit wouldn't be scored until the 2 birds are back in the kit ---------- Donny James "Fly The Best And Cull The Rest" "Saying One Thing;Doing Its Another" "Keep Your Head Planted In The Sky And Wings Spanned Wide" 1996 Piedmont Roller Club Lifetime Achievement Recipient Portsmouth Roller Club Participation Award System Recipient 1994 '96 '97 And 2000 2001 Limestone,Ohio Sportsman's Club Lifetime Member Recipient 2002Portsmouth Roller Club Certified Judge 2004Portsmouth Roller Club Lifetime Member Recipient "Miss Portsmouth"NBRC/90/J311 Rusty Dun Check Self Hen First Bird To Get Certified In Portsmouth Roller Club History With A Score Of 53 Judge By Joe Roe The 1993 World Cup Winner And John Bender The 1994 World Cup Winner

Taken from the World Cup 20-Bird fly rules
"3) Fly time. The kit is “in judgement” for 20 minutes after time-in or until the second bird lands, whichever occurs first. However, the kit shall be disqualified if more than one bird fails to fly for at least 15 minutes after time-in unless driven down by a bird of prey or extreme weather. A bird down that spontaneously crashes (after one bird has landed) shall be given up to 10 seconds to resurrect and resume flight or else it shall be considered the second bird down."
Say i'm a brand spanking new flyer. What I may get from this is that the "FIRST" bird "CAN" land and take a 2 minute bath and a 3 minute nap and then fly back up to the kit for the "REQUIRED" 15 minutes all "BEFORE" the second bird lands. Or The "FIRST" bird "CAN" rolldown to the dirt and walk in circles for 5 minutes and then return back to the kit for the other "REQUIRED" 15 minutes and again "BEFORE" another one crashes!... What about if the first bird crashes and plays dead then a second one crashes, and just when the judge reaches a count to 9 the first bird quickly jumps up and flys to the kit??? Just food for thought... Now I will duck! lol

Nick If the NBRC president allows the EC to add some clarity to the fly rules, that may be the best place to get some of these questions answered. Whenever discussions involve the fly rules, as you can see s of late, tempers flare as the can of worms topples over. We, as a hobby, are extremely passionate about anything having to do with the fly rules. If the EC of 2004-2005 did nothing more "major" than delete one statement concerning axle positions, and for the reasons stated in Toms very eloquent post, "FOR" deleting that wording, it is obvious that EC was very conservative. But the Majority vote from the NBRC flyers also approved that change. Are we ready to become more just a little more liberal and be a little more exact in our wording to provide positive change for the flying segment of our hobby? I doubt anyone looks forward to change, especially one that causes this kind of differences of opinions. It will take strong leadership by all on the NBRC EC to find solutions to all these questions lurking in all these gray areas. If we all work towards one goal and that goal is what is to "do what best for the NBRC flyers," we can do no more than do our best for them. Your questions are very appropriate but I don't think a solid confirmation or answer will be found here. I heard of one RD who compiled a list of all the regions members with a computer, got their e-mail addresses and with the push of one button could send questions out and get their opinions on different subjects very quickly. In a region as big as yours, you should have some flyers with computers.... Cliff
