I have a 2006 roller that came down early when I look into why she had come down early which she never did ,the right side of her eye was full of blood so I thought maybe she roll and hit another bird but it totally clear up in less than 5 minutes so I rule that out .then I remember seeing here others fanciers talk about their rollers coming down with blood in their eyes because of rolling with excess speed.but this does not apply to me neither because this bird rolls about 15 ft but not with that kind of speed.so I rest her one day send her back up again came down with blood in the eye.I forgot to rest her again the next day and she went up but it didn't happen again I will see what happens when I send her up again this week. just weird never seen this before..

Blood in the eyes has nothing to do with velocity. It is a defect in that bird that allows it to happen. You are right.

Rest it up and refly it. Enjoy it as a performer if you like. I advise strongly against breeding from it. It is a weakness that can be propogated through breeding. ----------

I have a 08 bird that roll blood in the eye and I had to rest it for over 3 week for it to get well. I try flying it in within 1 week of rollin blood in the eye and the same problem again so 3-4 weeks of rest work out the best for them to get well. I have been flying the bird and has never roll blood in the eye again. Just keep flying the bird and find out for your self if it will roll blood in the eye again or not just rest the bird 3-4 weeks first.

The blood on the eye clears up quick maybe a couple minutes and is clear but the damage is still there. That is why they need time to recuperate and around 3-4 weeks should be fine. This birds is like normal now and kits real good with the kit had not had any more problems with this birds.
And it has nothing to do with speed is jut that the vessels on the eye can't handle that much pressure and they burst.
This birds that roll blood in the eye was fast but I have got faster birds that don't roll blood in the eye.

Blood in the eye will take away from the birds. They become blind in that eye and will not be able to fend itself against a hawlk attack. The bird will cull itself in no time...nature always rule and the strong will survive. I've seen it when both eyes are effected and its not pretty.

Over the years I have had several birds roll with blood in the eye. Without exception all these birds were the fastest in my loft. 90% of the time resting these birds a few days to two weeks cleared up the problem. It never happened again. This is a genetic weakness in the birds.

Hammer, no doubt that it happened to the fast ones at your house. I have seen it happen a few times and it was to rollers of medium speed, nothing great. But they were frequent and rolled alot. It is a defect and is not caused by speed. ----------

Blood in the eye is a defect and not a good one. BUT in my family onley my fastest and deepest birds have have rolled blood in eye. and onley a few. Rember this is my family. if i had an average or below average bird roll blood in eye. I would cull.
