I went to the kit box this morning and there was blood all over one of the perches. I thoroughly checked every single bird and I could not find an injury. Every bird seemed active and fine. No missing toes or legs from predators. I even flew the kit and everything seemed normal. I then went back out later to find a lot more blood on the same perch. I then isolated the bird that typically uses that perch. Any suggestions or ideas? Is this a sign of disease or worms? I'm talking a lot of blood here, more than can be healthy for a single bird.

If you got a wire fabric of some kind as a floor I have had a couple of kit birds get too close to a cut out spot and got poked by the wire ends protruding from the trim cut. It is difficult to see a small wire puncture in or on the feet. That is my thinking.

I'm not sure of the sex of the bird. I do suspect its a hen though. Sorry to be so descriptive but there is about an eighth of a cup of blood. Would that be a sign of a broken egg? The bird is young and shows no sign of being "mated" with any others. And also this has happened twice in a matter of 12 hours.

I had something similar a few weeks ago.
I couldn't find any injury, but it was 10 blow and I wondered if it was possible a toe had frozen to a perch or something. Sometimes they will get a little ball of crud stuck to the ball of the foot and that can get ripped off?
Pigeons can have quite serious injuries and you can easily miss them. I.ve had birds slashed by hawks and never noticed until I handled them a few weeks later and notice all the new feathers growing back all stubly. I've seen blood drip from a bird then had a hard time finding the source. If a bird is in good feather condition the blood will seep through the feathers, but not stick to them.

I dont think a broken egg would cause the bird to bleed as there would be no blood in the egg as it needs to be incubated first and i dont think the shell would cause bleeding internal.
its just one of many mistarys you will find keeping rollers.LOL.

I think Scott might have it. Check for a missing nail.
They will bleed a lot from that.
