I have a hen that has not laid an egg this season. All the other pairs are on their second and third round. The pair are on the nest all the time and every two weeks or so, The cock has been mounting her. What could the possibilities be with this hen? She has laid in the past.

Dave, how old is the hen and cock? Tried clipping some of the feathers around the hens and cocks vent. Does the hen ever look eggy?

I trimmed the feathers on both awhile back. She acts like she's carrying eggs but nothing happens. The birds are 08 birds and have laid in the past.

Might the hen have an infection of the uterus? If so, I think aureomycin will might help. I will look into this a little further and see what anti-biotic might be helpful. Also, try giving her some calcium carbonate for egg formation. Good luck.

This is the same thing that happen. i have a 09 hen that laid before but she doesnt this year yet.this is my only pair and my only birds. she has lost her mate so i got a new mate for her.they mate everytime i let them out.The cock even carries nesting materials into teh nestbox but no eggs. I often find them huddling together cooing inside the nestbox but still no eggs. They also have good food and water i change them everyday idont know what im doing wrong i would appreciate help also.thanks
