John, when I started to build mine I did a search on it and some were 8" and some were 10".I went with the 8" and they work fine for my Ruby's, but other strains maybe larger.Hope this helps you.

John, Yes, they are too big. I was told the 9" square is the right size for rollers. It has worked well for me. You should be able to fit 3 x 4 boxes where you have 2 x 3. If made correct the pigeons will leave almost no poop on the box perches. They have to be small enough for their tails to touch then they will turn their tails out to poop. Here is a set that I built for a 3' deep x 3' wide x 4' tall box. If I were to do it again I would have built 3 x 4 boxes for each side and not put any on the back wall.

there's an advantage to placing box perches on the back wall, and that's they don't fly as much back and forth like when the perches are on opposite sides. also, i agree with Keith, make the boxes around 9" or less. i actually used the entire dimension of the back of my dual kitboxes, and simply made them to fit, rather than have spaces on either side. ----------
