Chuck misunderstood the guy, George, when he was talking about the source of some of his color projects during our NBRC regional competitions when we were at his house. He has some birds that were crossed with an archangel and some that were crossed with a modena for certain color and factors but that was back in the 80s. It doesn't really matter now because he got rid of all his rollers a few weeks ago. He had to get out because of his health. I have flown birds with him for five years and have never seen any other breed of pigeon at his place other than rollers. He has been in rollers for 60 years...competes with his Turner/Kumro/Pensom families, and is a wizard when it comes to pigeon genetics. Too bad we lost him. End of story. Cliff

I got a couple great pair of his straight Turner breeders....Indigo and Andalusians that are closely-related to other birds I have obtained from James and from Jay Yandle. They will dove-tail nicely into my line-breeding program. Cliff

Hey Nick, now I find that ironic that you put the phrase "Think Outside The Box" in your signature and then put up a post on this topic that says "Should never happen!" That's funny! Keep them coming my friend! LOL ---------- FLY ON! Tony Chavarria

At least 5 different breeds of pigeons were crossed to develop the homing pigeon.
I'm glad the self appointed pigeon police weren't around back then....LOL

That's funny, George. I heard something similar from a friend who asked if he crossed Tipplers into his Pensoms would the offspring be pure Jaconettes! What a site it would be to see rollers skywalking the Carolina skies as little dots beyond judging and scoring range. Oh, I forgot...we already have them! LOL! Cliff

Sal, You know me well enough to know that you will rarely find me drawing first blood....but I don't take kindly to folks who get there jollys by putting down other men's families of rollers, and I can mix it up with any of 'em if that's what they want. I think we all know that George didn't open this thread because he wanted to show his respect for his fellow roller men or their families of rollers. Same ol' misinformed George! LOL!
On page 70 of "The Birmingham Roller Pigeon, Bob Evans says: " Stay out of arguments in regard to the merits of different strains , etc., for publication, unless they are friendly and constructive. Any cheap-skate can be abusive and usually is if fairly beaten with positive proof. There is no doubt spinning Rollers of many different lines; if you want to boast your favorite, that is your privilege, also the other fellow's. Be willing to let him have his say; you may learn something worth while."
I can't say it any better than was written by Mr. Evans. Cliff
