Hey guys, Is it a fair question to ask if you claim to have some great rollers that you have been breeding for 20 to 40 years, Where are your branches of success in others lofts? Lets just look at Norm Reed, Jerry Higgins and Carl Hardesty as a few examples.. Not only have these men flew some great kits, and done their share of winning competition, but others who have founded off of their rollers, have also done well in the roller world flying against top flyers..Are these not the type of roller breeders and flyers we should hold in high regard? Talk is cheap!!!! Any dummy with a PC can boast of great rollers.. the truly good rollers, have a fly record with branches that can be followed and is out there for all to see. Good roller men, put up there birds to see how they compare to the best breeders in the country and world.. They don't Brag about how great their rollers are, then hide in the house, when its time to compete and compare.. Thats my opinion. SO the question, is it fair to ask a man that boast of great rollers of many years,, Who flys your stock, and how have they done against other good flyers, in the testing ground of the roller, WC and National competition? Mongrel yes it is a fair question if that person is selling birds or bragging about their birds. Every person should ask as many questions as they need to determine if thats type of birds that there looking for.
We all need to remember that not all people want to compete, some just want a hobby and we all need to respect their decisions ,also some dont have the money that some of these (so called legends want for their birds)
also remember that a lot of people have very good birds but choose not to compete becuase of all the theives that might visit your loft and scope it out to steal your birds here in So. Cal that is a ongoing problem You fellas that dont have that problem are truly BLESSED

I have learned not to be sold on word alone I would like to see it for myself.I learned that the hard way and am now on the hunt for a new famliy of birds to start over with agin. Anyone that would steal birds or anythind should meet my puppy 190 pounds of great dane wolfhound. He does very good at keeping the yard free of vermin 4 legged or 2.

KGB, I agree with you. Talk is very cheap. I also think it shows what a breeder a man is when other people do well with his birds. That is the hard part because you have no control after the birds are gone. I think the biggest problem in the rooller world is too much talk and not enough action. I believe the truly great roller men do not brag at all they just let the birds do the talking. this is only my opinion. Kevin

Hey Kevin, I agree about the braggers.. Its takes a few years, of buying into the big stories before you realize, Man, these guys are just full of it!!! Jack M. and I were at the Calif. classic one year. They were flying the kit, and we were commenting about a bird that was ripping of some nice 30 foot or so rolls.. The guy standing next to us, the Maunder Man! Yea, but just imagine that roll, but 60 feet, that fast or faster!! Really I say, where can we see these birds? At my house of course Maunder man replies .. Right now, you have birds rolling that fast, but 60 feet.. Yea, lots of them, you want to come see them.. Hell yea!! Me and Jack loaded up, left the classic, drove an hour and half to Maunder mans house.. He turned loose his kit of about 30+ birds,, they circled, circled, circled,, a flip or two here and there.. I'm thinking well, they are holding back, man when they bust it,, its going to be sweet!!! Nothing the whole fly, so I say, Maunder Man, where are the 60' speedsters you had us drive all the way over here to see.. he nervously laughs, well these are them,, They are just young.. When they come in,, they will be at least that good.. CHING GOW!! Where do these guys get the nerve?? Lesson learned,, LMAO Mongrel Lofts

I have a family of pure Plona, and a second family I’m put together from Herb Sparks, Norm Reed, and Cornell Norwood. Now I’ve heard some braggers in the past; say the only reason that so and so did well in that fly is because he has my bloodline behind his birds. Can or should the branch take credit for the flyers hard work?

Rollerman132 I know exactly what your talking about.I hate when people hear another guy is doing good with roller's and some guy come's along and say's "Well you know he's flying my bird's"When you maybe have 2 bird's from that guy's stock in your loft. That really pisses me off!!!

Roller man and Ro - Some guys just want to talk and hear themselves talking I guest. There is a guy like maunder man who said he introduced me to Bruce Cooper. Farthest from the truth as I have known Bruce since I was 11 years olds. Many people talk to this Maunder man like character and believe everything he says. It is very awful that people want to bring others down. Maybe it makes them feel good? And sometimes I believe that they really do not want to hear the truth but would rather believe a lie.

you can also lock up your loft and kit box with a bike lock thats what i had to do when some one stole some of my birds i shipped in from new york and i did not even have the birds for 2 weeks i was so pissed it was not cool if you would of seen me i probably would of killed you cause i spent about one hundred on those birds and thats allot to me it may not be to some but i worked the summer for these birds and some one just has the balls to walk into my back yard and open my kit box and my loft and take my birds and they even had the balls to leave my loft open and so i could tell some one had been there so some people have no self respect for others or them selfs people who do those type of things should be beat until they cant walk straight thats what i think

The best thing you can do, when it comes to bird thieves is get a good dog, install some sensor lights, and lock everything up with pad locks. Another thing that’s a must, is being careful who you allow in your yard, once they see your setup, bye bye birds!

Got spin - Thanks for saying that you believed the maunder man. There are those who still believe people like that. Have you ever known a person to have a family and when he has it is gold but once he gets rid of it the family is junk. Maunder men again. I laugh at these guys because it is kind of funny. Like I said people rather believe a lie than the truth. Another ironic thing is that people will not ask the person personally. Instead they ask someone else who probably does not even know themselves. These same Maunder men are the ones that try to get birds from me/you and others but would not let anyone else know about it. There are a lot of Maunder men out there who act like pre-schoolers and it is sad to see grown men behave in such a manner. But, it must make them feel good because there is no other logic to it.

3757, I actually purchased a kit and a few breeders when I first met this person and he was quite pricy on his birds so I figured they were good ones! It was a learning experience!
