Hello All,I hope everyone has bred some CHAMPS so far this year?Has anyone on this forum had any sucess with Polygamy breeding?and if so what is your method and your setup??I have a pair, very very inbred#266/8409 Hatcher,a click pair, the youngsters are spectacular!!I must have a kitbox filled with their young, but how do I DO THAT[LOL].I have several hens same family[6],but distant relation. The youngsters have the markings of the cock, some of the later rounds have more markings of the hen.Theres more than enough fosters,so far thats the method I'm taking.I've heard about the Poly method alittle, just not alot of details. Can anyone help fill me in??ALOHA,Todd

Aloha,

I have tried 1 way of polygamy breeding but I am sure there are several. 1st. Is get a section and put three nest boxes in it, then put your disired cock in with 2 or 3 hens. The hens, after seeing there is only 1 cock will usally all mate up to him. Then just foster out all the eggs laid. The 2nd method is to put a cock with one hen and foster out 2 or 3 rounds, then switch him to a different hen and do the same thing. These are the two methods I have heard of. Hope this helps.

Todd.My one breeding compartment is a 3 tier with 4 compartments in each tier.I put 4 hens in the top row.I then take my cock and place him in with the first hen.I let him with the hen 10 or 12 hours then switch him to hen # 2 for the same amount of time. Then to # 3 and then to # 4. I keep doing this untill each hen has laid.By this time the first hen is ready again. Most times they will mate within the first 15 minutes with each hen.I am on my 4 th round with these 4 hens and have only had 1 infertile egg.Next year(maybe yet this year)I am going to do this with a couple more cocks.
I know my cock clicks with the one hen,Don,t know what the other 3 hens will do yet. This is working good for me. David
