Hey fellow pigeon breeders, lets all take advantage of the excellent forum that Tony provides& by sticking to the topic. I have had some bad experiences with some Anti groups & come up like a trout when i hear anything that sounds anti. I realize everyone has a right to their opinion. However may i suggest that that we use a different forum to make our case. No hard feelings & hopefully all will feel the same, including our friends from the UK. sincerely Bob in ONTARIO

Hey Bob, Being a lifetime hunter and fisherman, and roller breeder from the age of 11 til 17 and restarted back in Jan. 2OO4, I enjoy hearing the different discussions on pigeons, and also reading and seeing pictures of those that hunt and fish. I think the majority of the topics are pigeon related, but again, it is nice to see what other pigeon guys do other than pigeons. J.M.O ... Jerry ---------- Eat, sleep, Cowboys, Pigeons... Well what the hell are we going to argue about then ? LOL I'm with Jerry, off topic stuff gives us all a peak into each others live's. I was mainly a bowhunter for many years, deer, hog , bear , sheep, goats ,done it , smallgame from bats to carp and everything inbetween. My passion now is tournaments and spots , it hit a point where when I was hunting I was wishing that I was at a tournament , hunting is now a closed chaptor in my life for personal reasons , but it is the hunters and fisherman that are the true conservationalists (is that a word LOL)

You know what happened here? Somebody went off on a duck hunt and had a great time...then wanted to share some pics...Then, UK Steve instead of ignoring the pics and the post that seemed to outrage him...he had to put in his 2 cents. That is when the "feel good" post turned into a debate. Does that make sense? Its like if you posted a picture of your kids...and I post back that they are ugly as hell. How necessary would that be? That thread isn't going to bring down Tony's site...

bob,
I understand where you are coming from. I have been told to stick to pigeon talk a few times especially when I state something of a political nature. I totally understand your concern that we may corrupt a good thing going here about the BR.
I have found that I cannot change anyone elses belief system and I will refrain from giving my opinion about religion; politics; and social beliefs............except when asked for(LOL).
But, I like to see the interests that my fellow breeders have other than pigeons......I just got to learn not to give my opinion about what they do or have.

I agree with Milo, when I saw Tapp's post I felt great that we shared a pursuit/passion other than pigeons.Felt good to put a face with a name.Thought I could share in that so I posted my pic.Steve has every right to his opinion but his post started a negative tone that turned into an avalache. There was no debate till then just some friends sharing a look into each others lifes. These pics weren't put there to offend anyone.Steve has every right to express his opinions but shouldn't be suprised when others express there's back.If you feel the need to show your distain for someone else's pursuit you should be able to take the flack that follows. If you can't take it maybe you should keep your opinions to your self. STEVE the simple fact was everyone was felling good and sharing when you managed to come in and P-ss on the parade. What do think would happen? No grudge here,I don't feel the need to justify my actions to you or anyone else here. And neither do you have to justify your opinions or beleifs.JMO ---------- Ron

I gotta agree with most here Bob. I enjoy the off subject posts and pics too. Aslo I feel that Steve was out of line and should have just passed the post on by instead of taking a slam at it. When you cast disparaging remarks on someone for something they truly enjoy you gotta be ready to take your lumps. This site has been touted as the most un-censored forum around.......... Let's keep it that way I say. Horses are cool too, I know several already who enjoy them here in the group (myself included). For anyone who has been here any amount of time you should know by now that we are all not going to agree on everything all of the time. Hell we are lucky to agree on anything sometimes. Every topic we discuss on here is going to have differences of opinion. As for the hunting and other pics I personally like them. I agree it gives us a small glimpse into each others lives outside this site. Instead of us always trying to please the non hunters and anti fur or cruelty to animals people how about they try and please us for once and keep their opinions to themselves. We know all the speel now lets just agree to dis agree and enjoy the conversation. I say keep the pics coming Scott and others. This is my Two Cents!! Site Moderator C.J.

This site has three moderators and an administrator to keep it going in the right direction. If we determine that a subject is going to lead to a road that is not of the best interest of the site, we will correct it by stepping in. If we didn’t, that means we see no objections to the topic being discussed.
For those that don’t like to hunt nor like to cull their birds because of their belief or their nature, I urge you to skip over the thread or any post that talks about the things that you disagree on or against your belief and that is that.
We appreciate you reminding us that this is a pigeon site. We need that now then to keep us in place. At any work place, you don’t find people working like machine for 8 hrs everyday. They talk and bullshit about all sort of topics in between their working hours to keep the day moving along and make it personable. That is not any different than here. Don’t you agree?

Haven`t had a bow in years . I was in it when a PSE Phaser 3 was new. I always enjoyed archery. Thats a nice rig there Scott. I bet its smooth as silk.
I always considered bow hunting a truer version of hunting because of the close proximity one has to be get get a shot. Then you have to track your prey to it site of demise. Unlike the movies it is a rare thing for anything to just drop after being hit with an arrow. I too like to know more about my fellow fanicers. yits ---------- If they don`t kit, they don`t score. I love to fish. I put Catfish videos in to fall asleep! But don't need to actually catch fish when I go if that makes sense? I used to like to hunt when I was young 'til I joined the Marine Corps and found there are some very very bad people in the world that need to thinned out at this point in my life :) Though I do believe a cold crisp morning, a pack of smokes, a thermos of black coffee, the sun shining, the smell of shotgun smoke, and my best buddy actually showing me how to shoot is one of the finest things a man could ask for. To each his own and should God bless me with a couple of acres near a good catfish river and a place to hit a few cottontails with my kids when I retire, I will know I lived a good life. God Bless us all with different and individual things we hold in our hearts that we believe makes this country great. To each his own

Wait hang on guys correct me if i am wrong on this hunting debate. I never said i am against hunting i was just trying to ask you guys to have a bit of respect for Steves views on this issue. What i did not like and see no point at all was the video Brian posted if that video gives you guys kicks out of blasting a small animal to pieces then i underestimated you guys, If you guys like that sort of thing and it makes you feel good about it then my respect for you guys has gone downhill somewhat. The comment coo coo said about being real men if you hunt is laughable to me.I served in the British forces for 6 years and shot every weapon the British army had. coo coo does that make me a real man?.I never said i am against duck hunting or any other hunting as long as your going to eat the animal or the animal is a threat to mankind then go for it guys. But what i don't like is the fox hunting it is a cruel sport and the fox dies slowly with the hounds I've seen many video. Milo you said don't read the posts if its about hunting lol sheer curiosity would make you read any post. What i am saying i dont like the thought of killing an animal for no reason whatsoever this dont make sense to me .Anyway guys this is the last you will hear from me on this issue and i do respect the culture and your lifestyles that you have been raised up to follow just please respect ours. regards W@yne uk

Common sense should tell you, if you want to slam something someone is enjoying, expect to be slammed back. Very simple. If not, just move on to the Gazillion other posts on Tony's site. If you don't respect someones opionions or stance, why would someone care what you have to say? I mean, c'mon. Like these guys are all broken up about how Steve feels. I have to agree with W@yne. I am opposed to killing animals just for the fun of watching them die. Also I am opposed to causing them pain and suffering. I am OK with hunting if you eat what you kill and kill it cleanly. I believe all animals enjoy living and enjoy a beautiful day. So I don't kill them unless there is a need. I take no pleasure in their suffering. I do like Squirrel dumplings. I have a camp house on the Neches River. Water is running about three foot deep under it today. Catfish love soap when the river is up.

Sure everybody opposes any kind of animal killing just for waste, but hunting an animal to consume it is very noble thing from the days of ancient history. Killing an animal just to be wasted is poaching, careless and wasteful. Remember the buffalos and how they were destroyed!! I never was fond of the British fox hunting sport they have as a past time fun. To me it is as bad as cock fighting. Here in the States we have laws against such sports but if the English support their fox hunting sport then I can live with it. It is part of their heritage and I respect that.
Some people are trophy hunters and all they want is that big rack or what have you. As long as they give the meat to others who need it instead of wasting it and they keep that rack then that is fine. Remember that each hunter pays his dues to the state for hunting license and tags. So, they are in retrospect are buying the catch from their state whether they catch something or not.

I am a hunter and I enjoy not just the hunt but being with friends. The main thing is that..these hunters are not just shooting animald and leaving them...they take them home and eat them...I have duck, deer, pheasant in the fridge and guess what...Sunday is deer meat day and the kids are waking me up to fry some deer meat. If it was not for the hunters...some of the animals would starve.
There is a lot of time and money spent state to state to monitor deer and elk herds...tag and monitor migratory birds etc. We pay for our licese and tags to make the money to monitor all these animals....they check to see how many animals are in a herd and see if there is enough food to sustain the herds...they check for disease...and health of the animals. They keep a good buck to doe ratio for breeding purposes. In some states the fish and game want to know how many animals you bagged..so they can build statitistics. They know the percentage of animals taken every year...how many die in Winter or to predators.....how much the eco system can handle...lots of info. The money raised also support the Game Wardens so they can catch the poachers that taking game and messing up there statitstics.
Based on the statistics....they only issues so many tags...if they feel there are not enough deer...the will lower the amount of tags sold...some states have not even issued tags in some areas and let the heards build back up. As far as hunting ...trust me ....there are WAY more misses then hits...LOL and trust me...only the smart and strong animals survive..and because they survived...they pass on the best genes...
Anyway...hunting goes as far back as pigeon breeding...
I agree..take a photo of the cute little quail flying across a field getting blasted...then post the photo of the birds all cooked up and the family sitting at the table enjoying a nice meal. From wild game instead of animals pumped with steroids...Anyway...Give me a break..if you do not like it...don't look...

I have four children there isn't any waste. I have taught them unless you are going to eat it you don't kill it. I respect peoples opinion who do'nt hunt all I ask is you respect my right to hunt. I don't agree with trophy hunting but do hunt any kind of animal that is edible. I will try anything once. I also agree that hunting is more than the hunt. It is about getting together with good friends. It is also something that my children and I both love to do together. If you are offended by a thread then don't click on it. Jay, Paul, and Wayne are right I love to hunt but if I don't eat it or don't know someone that will eat it then I don't kill it and Al is right I had so many people ask me for deer meat this year. I do have a big 8 point buck on the wall that I shot last year and gave most all of it away. I know a guy that shot like 6 deer one year in SC were the numbers are why high and gave them to a jail.
Huey why do you think I should ride a Paso? A Paso could not do most of all the things I do, I don't hate Pasos if my back goes bad then I will get one but on till then a cowboy needs a ranch horse that can do anything and go anywhere.

I don't think you need a Paso, Just joking. What ever pigeon of what ever color makes you happy you should fly. What ever horse of what ever color you like to ride you should ride. Pasos are actually not good for lots of folks. Got to much Spirit(Brio). The best all around horse I ever trained was a Quarter Horse/TWH cross. It would pull a turning plow, work in a team to a wagon, Work cows and could canter or rack with equal comfort. The fastest gaited was a Standardbred/Peruvian Paso, The best barrel horse was a quarter horse of course, it won a saddle its as a three year old, the best show horse was a Paso Fino, it sold for $60,000 at its third show. I guess a good horse is a good horse. Horse people are usually good people. I have trained maybe five hundred and of all colors and breeds including Donkeys and Mules. I like them all.
I used to duck hunt and train retrievers. I prefer Chesepekes but Labs are lots easier to train. Today I have a Shiloh Shepherd.
I am better with horses and dogs than I am with rollers. But I will be good with rollers, may take a couple years. This all Roller Talk Forum has been my best help. If you want to take a break and talk hunting and horse riding I say "God Bless You" and Thanks.

Wayne, Steve's very first post was what drew the flack his direction. He should have been the one taking your advice for tolerance of other folks beliefs and not smarted off. Anyone with any common sense would have known they were lighting a fuse. I say don't light a fuse and then be suprised about the explosion. I have zero pity for him on this one. It would be like me saying how I think soccer sucks if someone posted a pic of their "Little Billy" in his soccer uniform. That would be an off topic pic but I bet I could scroll on by witout lighting that fuse. That's the way I see it anyway. All the best to you and yours. Jim ---------- "We Don't Rent Pigs"

I think we all ought to pool our money and go kill a rhino; a hippo; a lion; a leopard; an elephant in Africa. Then the next year we go to Austraila and kill a red kangorue and one flightless bird. The third year we go to Asia and kill a tiger; a rhino; and peafowl. The fourth year we go to South America and kill something there too. We can do some walrus; puma; elk; mule deer; whitetail; black bear; grizzly in North America the fifth.
Then we can take on the waters of the world from the streams; to the lakes; to the oceans and catch the fish of the world on the sixth and final year
Take pictures of the kill and catches; then eat them or donate the kill and catches to the jails and villages so they can help us eat' em for our civic duty. This will make us feel good. By doing this we will save animals from suffering starvation due to over population. For you know nature can't handle balancing it out without our intervention.
It is no different than killing cows, pigs, or chickens for the grocery store is it? You got to make them dead before you eat'em.
We will be very selective and just kill the biggest or the ones with the biggest horns or antlers so we can get more points towards becoming master sportsmen.
What do you think?
The qualifier=================>"Just joking guys"
I am a meat eater; I use to be a killer....I mean hunter; I still fish(I keep the crappie; trout; and walleye to eat along with most ocean fish).
It is just that I have not pissed anybody off the past couple of days and I miss it.

No hard feelings Huey, a Paso for 60'000 man that must have been a looker, I like pasos but your right to much spirit. That horse in the pic is my 3 year old I trained my self he can do it all cut, rope, barrel race, and de spooked from anything that could scare a horse guns, whips, and even fire. He would make a much better jumper than anything at 4 months old he jumped a 5' panel when he was tied to it, a hay ring why I don't know just last week he jumped a gate.
