Yes its a hen she's a solid 15 to 20 and kits great and color does matter to me not as much as performance but very close. On a rainy day i like to watch my birds in the loft and if i had 100 black white flighted birds i could see one and go back inside.

Ty

The hobby has been blessed to have some excellent spinning color birds as the result of decades of hard work by phenomenal roller men who were absolutley committed to performance, like James Turner. There have even been some national fly winners and international fly winners, whose families include such color birds.
The NBRC fly and the WC fly are not concerned with colors , only performance. There is nothing written in any fly rules pertaining to what colors can participate in the fly's.
Opinions vary from men who are opposed to rare colored rollers to those who care less as long as they perform to standard. It has been said that some of those who voice their negative feelings about rare colored rollers have masculinity issues. (I am not sure if that is true or not.LOL!)
Enjoy your rollers, enjoy what ever color you like. If they perform to the standard , fly your birds proudly.
YITS,
Cliff

Cliff, I have yet to see a good color bird that could hold it together, and that included there,I know I know many have them buried in the background, the key word is "buried".
If James Turner was commited to perforance he wouldn't have been cross breeding "period".

Its my understanding that Mr. James Turner introduced color in the birminghams by using rollers with unusual genes of color ive got a great article writen by Cliff Ball if you want to read it ill email it to you.I Think that you could learn alot from it.

Hello:

If James Turner is alive, whay not ask him how he did it. There is also a video floating around of him talking about the crosses that were made. Remember to breed for speed, style, a little bit of depth and don't worry about the color. You have opened of a can of worms that has been opened up & closed many times. Go the the source if he is still alive and get the truth. Remember the Truth will set you free.

Scott,
Geesh! Did you fall and bump your head or something?! Joe Houghton picked Jay Yandle's "color birds" at the convention as some of the best he has ever seen. Two hundred roller men from accross the nation who attended the NBRC Convention in September said these birds were the BEST EVER SEEN AT A CONVENTION. We have three National titles and a World Cup title in this state from guys flying these birds. My own holdover kit of '04, '05, and '06 birds placed third in the nation and 13th in the World. Hehehehehe, that record speaks volumes compared to your constant sniveling about this issue. Let's compare scores over the past year or so my friend. Then we'll see whose birds are not holding up! LOL! Apparrently everybody else in the hobby, except for you, Scott, and a couple of your groupies, is well-aware that this famiy of rollers is holding up just fine. As for fixing them...this hobby is a work in progress....as in EVERY OTHER roller loft that I know....the search for the perfect roller goes on. It's no different with this family. I feel for ya, buddy. The real truth starin' you in the face and you can't accept it....
Cliff

PS This response was to an inflammatory post of Scott's about my family of birds, that he has since edited.

Cliff,
I hate to get in the middle of your and Scotts fun, But with your last statement, were those birds that were said to be the best he had ever seen, was that from the ground or the air at the convention?

Jerry,
That was after seeing them fly at the convention. I have his exact quote....I'll see if I can find it....it was relative to a particular aspect of performance....something to the effect tht they rolled deep, snapped out and went right back to the kit better than any others...

Cliff were we at the same convention ? you have a lot to learn buddy if you believe what you wrote.
I'm not saying it isn't there as the heat and moult I'm sure played in bigtime.
As for Jays birds , I'm going to tell you the same thing that I told Jay, the spin was there but they came out of the roll sloppy, not sure if they were just young or what which could have played in.
Cliff, I wasn't alone here, far from it, again with the heat and moult it is hard to expect more.

Can you believe it? Finally got a photo to come up! Sorry I had to use a colored bird especially in this thread but it's the only thing I had right off.
This is a Hoyle bird. From a Ash red tcheck and probably blue dark spread. Most of my birds are Very dark spread or Tchecks.

Im hear to learn and ill be the first to say im ignorant to a lot of things thats why i read everything i can and i felt that some comments made were wrong. But with that said were still arguing about a roller weather its colored or not its still a roller and i feel that Mr.Turner's birds are great birds and (pure) as anyone elses and as good. but im hear to make friends in the hobby and take all that is said as help.
