Hey bud! Abel Ibarra has 0003 and 0016. Both of them are brothers and CHAMPIONS. I would call Abel or Jerry for that matter and talk to the source personally. Both are very cool guys and very straight (NO BS). I'm fortunate to have some birds off the parents to both 0016 and 0003. All I know is that they work and are top of the line (to my standards). Unfortunatley 0016 is no longer alive ....

To be honest with you I dont compete in flys!!! I just fly my birds in my back yard and when I get well and establish my family to MY standards we will see. Higgins birds have proven themselves may times over and over again. NOW the birds I have are very good, and definitly not for a beginer. It took me 4 years to get hold of this family and to control them to my standard. I will say it is definitly a family of birds worth working with.

if you dont mind who will you be getting the new birds from ? and why would you need more of them if you already have champs in your loff ? and how many families are you flying other then the 0016 family ? and if 0016 are of a champion blood line why have another family ??? i hope you dont get botherd by my questions ???

No problem bro!! I have had my original family for 8 years now and they are very good birds. With that said I came across some Higgins birds and liked what I saw so I went on a hunt. LOL Some years ago I heard that Henry Cook had some of that blood so I gave him a call and got a couple of birds from him. I bred the fart out of them and started stocking from the air to establish some breeders. A gentleman by the name of Efren Lopez and I got in contact and he decided that he will send me some young off of that 0016 stuff. That is petty much it.

PS.
I wouldnt say I have a loft full of champions because I dont. Champions are VERY hard to produce. But I do have a loft full of good birds. True Champion birds are once in a 1000000000.... If you dont mind me asking what family of birds are u flying??? My advice for any new comer is to start with the best family you can find. Something that is up to Ur standard and liking. And to be honest there are many of them out there (good familys). Holler at Tony, Scott, Jerry, Abel, ..... and get the best you can..

Norm Knox if you read this, did you have to spend a ton of money to get sons and daughters off of 0016 and 0003. I heard that some of that stuff was going for $1000.00 to $2500.00 a bird.

katcher i purchased 0016 and 0003 in 2004 bred about 24 birds out of him out off my hens that i had raised and flew out, 6 of them. flew ever single bird and everyone was an awesome spinner what i would consider a champion in the air, most of them i flew for over 2 years and some 3. many people got to witness them in the air and most peoples reaction was to take money out of their pockets and demand to buy the birds. now for 2 years or so i have been breeding out of some of them which would be a quarter of that blood and the percentages of good ones worthy of the stock loft are really high as much as 100% no less than 80%. their might be some that wont agree but i welcome any one to take a day and come and visit and see for yourself my kits not just 1 or 2 and make your own call. their is reason why demand is so high and they bring the ticket that they do at least at my loft.

U tell them Abel. I would have to agree with you 100%. Like my grandfather used to say (may he rest in Peace) "A TRUE CHAMPION WILL ALWAYS PRODUCE A CHAMPION". He raised pigeons for over 60 years and I'm yet to meet someone that has the knowledge of pigeons as he did!!! He never had Birmingham Rollers but he bred Orientals, Highflyers, Racers, and a couple of Diving breeds.

PS.

Hey Katcher, this is Johnny Smith I'm the guy that originally had 0016 after Jerry Higgins bred him the first year. The mating that made 0016 was a true hit pair. There were several outstanding birds produced from this mating. To name a few there's 0003, 0004, 0016, 0057, 100, 23, 0062, and a whole host of others. In my opinion, and I might be bias, 0016 was the very best since 95% of my loft are out of him or sons of his. 0016 truly was a champion in the air and in the stock loft. Just to name a few guys that have this bird's blood in their loft; Jose Lorenzo, Murillo Hernandez, Abel Ibarra, Robert Parker, Steve Smith, Sal Ortiz, Keith London, Ron Duncan, Johnny Smith, Jerry Higgins and many more. The names mentioned above have had some form of success in winning their Regional, NBRC or World Cup, some more than others but still have bred through the same family of birds. Thanks to Jerry and his generosity many of us pigeon guys have benefited from the family of birds he has developed.

Photobucket

PS- This is the best I've ever seen out of 0016. True champion in the air and as a producer!

3259 looks awsome, I am not in rollers for looks but if they can roll and look good aswell then all the better. There his a local man near me and my god his birds can roll but when you see them on the ground they look like a bunch of wild pigeons, of course due to poor management, What I am getting at is yes we keep them in small kits and keep there feed to a min but at the same time keep them looking good. Just look at 3259. He could win in the show pen. Nice fit, healthy lokking birds efren .

Thanks Guys. 3259 belongs to Benny Ford. It was bred by Jerry Higgins. Benny was able to 3/4 him and got some good looking young.

0016 and 0003 were also bred by Jerry Higgins. Abel Ibarra owns them. 0016 died late last year.

Able, you have a point, the right few "key" birds are worth every penny, the problem is few are identified, and those that are usually are never parted with.
I plowed through many pigeons to find my nuggets,it took a lot of work and many years, they are pricless
