Ralph, The BOP's are marginal here on O'ahu, but on the big island of Hawaii where Dexter is,they have some residents. They always seem to get the good ones though....Aloha,Todd

There you go see we can look at the negative and the positive.he has next year ..time to train his birds better,,negative ..next year the BOP might leave him with Zero----------soon as you guys find out why the flight was miss you can see what you can do.if he miss it because he was late someone try and get him a doctors note if he has an excuse he doesn't lose his money flight..he can call and reschedule.when my wife miss a flight one time she told them my daughter was sick so they reschedule another flight for her and didn't need a Dr note.she was lucky..and then we have to consider the judge too maybe he has a schedule too back home and can't make it..I just wish the best for you guys.. ---------- Ralph.

Todd, the W.C. is ran by the commitee, which is the RDs, then there is the oversight of the director, assistant director and Treas/Sec. The W.C. has absolutly no affiliation with the NBRC or any club in any way shape or form , nor is it a club itselt, it just simply exists for sole purpose of this fly. ---------- Just my Opinion Scott

There are BOP in Hawaii, both native and non native. It was recently found that there are Peregrines that are now making that migration probably from Alaska. I was born and raised in Hawaii and can remember reading about bald eagles that were blown to Hawaii from Alaska or got lost and caught rides on ships during large storms. Rick S. got hit by a falcon during one of his last flys in the islands and his it on video. Tracey

The bottom line in my book is that if the WC organization wants to maintain it's standing in the hobby, it needs to make an honest effort to give Dexter a fly this year and adequate opportunity to get his kit ready. In MY OPINION and MY OPINION ONLY, we would be having a different discussion if this involved a different region with more qualifiers. It's a whole lot easier to chalk this up to bad luck and say, "better luck next year" because we are talking about one guy. The WC organization is to be commended for its' past performance in pulling off this competition which is surely a logistics nightmare but it needs to do the right thing and not let this one event tarnish its' reputation.
Last question, does anyone know if Dexter still wants to fly? Tracey

Tracey , one of the main problems it logistics , everything is scheduled, tickets bought ect. , the prep for most teams start 2-4 weeks out , to move everything would be a nightmare not to mention throwing every flyers set-up off that are closer to the current schedule, in other words many will get boned instead of just one. ---------- Just my Opinion Scott

I agree that's why I say he should be scheduled at the end if he still wants to fly. Tracey

Tracey, the end of the fly is in another part of the world and would cost too much. ---------- Just my Opinion Scott

Curious question. What if Dexter just happens to qualify for next year's WC finals, would he get to fly two kits in the finals, one for the bye kit and one for the recent qualifying kit?

Good question Brian. I think that would be fair if he chose to do it. Retribution of sorts. ---------- Keep em Spinning Joe

Hawaii region- I hope things work out as best as possible for you. Don't take my posts wrong- I am just trying to help clarify- not accuse anyone of fingerpointing. If your check said NBRC on it then it went to the wrong place. A rare opportunity to fly in the finals is not be taken for granted- even if this is just a hobby. Alot of time, effort, sacrifice, and luck plays in to qualifying. A bye to next year, OK, but alot can happen in 1 year for Dexter. Dexter seems to have a handle on what is going on-whether the end solution meets his satisfaction or not- he is to be commended. My son leaves for Oahu in August to attend U of H, Manoa. He plans on looking the island fliers up and I hope to as well when I visit him over the next 4 years. Mahalo, Don M .
